  1. Could EuroMillions Superdraw Lead To Record Irish Win?

The EuroMillions jackpot will be boosted to €130 million for a Superdraw on Friday 5th February, setting up the opportunity for an Irish player to become one of the country’s biggest-ever winners.

Jackpot Cap of €210 Million

Following changes to the game last year, the top prize can now climb higher than ever. The jackpot cap was worth €200 million, rather than the previous €190 million, until a French ticket holder grabbed this maximum prize in December. The jackpot cap subsequently increased to €210 million.

The biggest Irish win in history was worth €175 million and came on 19th February 2019. It followed a Superdraw a couple of weeks earlier. With another Superdraw coming up on Friday, players across the country will be hoping that history repeats itself and a new record could be created.

Superdraws, also known as Megadraws, only take place around four times a year. They work in the same way as regular draws but the big difference is the size of the jackpot. The top prize is lifted up to €130 million even if it is much lower in the previous draw.

The jackpot can keep rolling over until it is won or until it hits its €210 million cap. Once it reaches this limit, it can only stay there for four draws before it has to be won. If nobody matches all the numbers in the fifth draw at €210 million, the jackpot will be split between players in the highest prize category with winners.

How to Win EuroMillions Prizes

You’ll need to match all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars to win Friday’s jackpot, but there are 12 other prize categories too. If you match as few as two main numbers, or one plus both Lucky Stars, you win a prize.

You are also automatically entered into the Ireland Only Raffle whenever you buy a EuroMillions ticket. The Ireland Only Raffle guarantees that 10 players win €5,000 in every draw.

There’s no guaranteed way to win a big prize, but you can boost your chances by picking up more lines or playing in a syndicate so that you can split the cost of multiple entries between a group.

Make sure to keep your ticket safe if you’re buying one from a retailer, or look out for an email notification if you are taking part online. You can check the EuroMillions Results straight after the draw takes place, and it may just be that you become Ireland’s next big winner.
